Barbara Hester: L.C.P.C-c
Life comes with obstacles; it’s our daily mission to overcome them. But not every problem comes with an easy solution, and not every situation is black and white. That’s where I come in. You possess the abilities to overcome whatever obstacles lay in your path, to forge ahead in the darkest of times, and to come out a better person for it. But it’s not always easy to do on your own.
With 25 years as a social worker, built on a solid foundation of a BA in Psychology and a Masters degree in Counseling from the University of Southern Maine, I can teach you how to become the master of your own life. Whether you’re coping with depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, domestic abuse, or phase of life transitions, I can help you learn the necessary skills and tools to work through your problems, face them head on, and grow from your experiences.
While I work primarily with adults who are serious about getting help to lead a better life, I do also work with older adolescents. I like to use a variety of techniques to help you get the most out of your experience with me—from interventions to perspective, with an constant goal of achieving balance, peace, and wellbeing. I like to say that my style is informal, personal, and direct. I’m a shoulder to lean on, but I will push you to become a happier, healthier person through good communication and coping skills, at a pace that's right for you.
